Essential Equipment by Phase

Phase 1

Pool Access & Basics

Regular access to a pool (public or gym), comfortable well-fitting swimwear, and swim goggles to see clearly underwater without eye irritation.

Phase 2–3

Training Aids

A kickboard, pull buoy, and swim fins for isolated technique drills, plus a waterproof stopwatch or pool clock for pacing practice.

Phase 4

Open Water Safety Gear

A brightly colored swim buoy (visible to boats), a wetsuit if water is cold, and always a swim buddy for any open-water session.
